Tinnitus is an issue which affects about 10-15% of the population. Tinnitus is often described as a ringing or buzzing sound within the ear, however Tinnitus is usually heightened when there are no other sounds present within your environment.

At the Canadian Hearing institute we provide Tinnitus management to residents of Chatham-Kent and surrounding areas, providing both relief and counseling to ensure that each of our patients have the best chance of managing their Tinnitus in an effective manner.

Can you completely cure my Tinnitus?

Once evaluated, our Chatham-Kent patients have reported that their Tinnitus condition had improved and were much more manageable, however there is no cure to fix Tinnitus, there are a number of effective methods to ensure that Tinnitus can be managed such as Tinnitus masking devices, or Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) which helps to screen out the noise caused by the Tinnitus condition.

How can I prevent Tinnitus?

Your risk of developing tinnitus increases with exposure to loud noises, so hearing protection is an important intervention. If you are around a noise that is so loud you cannot speak at a normal conversation level, you should wear ear plugs, move away from the noise source, or simply turn it down. If your tinnitus is accompanied by some hearing loss, a hearing aid may be helpful.

Where should I go from here?

When you book a free, no-obligation hearing test with us, we can determine the extent of your Tinnitus and from there, establish an appropriate hearing device or suitable aid to help soften your Tinnitus symptoms.
